Ask, Seek and Knock

September 5, 2024

Matthew 7:7

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

The order of the actions strike me as meaningful.

  1. Ask: For every need that arises the only tool we have is prayer. We call to the Lord in prayer for his help and guidance
  2. Seek: It is then our duty to be sensitive to Him and seek the answer he places in our path.
  3. Knock: A physical effort we have to make o enter into the blessing or truth that was revealed to us. We can find the door, but without knocking it will not be opened to us.

What does it mean to:

Ask

  • Identify a problem, I can't deal with on my own
  • Be humble enough to ask for help
  • Go to someone who holds the solution
  • Be ready to listen

Seek

  • Find ways to reach the solution
  • Research the Scriptures
  • Understand that the duration is unknown
  • Prepare for the journey in prayer

Knock

  • Expect someone to answer the door
  • Know the answer is on the other side

Convey your needs humbly before the Lord, listen to Him and discover the truth He has deposited in your path. Apply and use that newfound widsom and surely you will blossom.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with us all. Amen.
